Polena Kollia - Petersen

Polena Kollia-Petersen is a Greek-Danish dancer, creator, and dance project coordinator. Originally from the island of Leros, she has lived and worked in Greece, Denmark, the UK, and Sweden.

Her pedagogical approach is grounded in principles of inclusion and community practice, viewing dance as a collective experience—a means of creation, imagination, and coexistence. She has led workshops for teenagers and children in schools in Denmark and Greece, working with intercultural groups and intergenerational projects.

Her work focuses on developing sustainable, community-rooted dance practices, with the aim of fostering long-term connections with local communities.

In 2018, she was awarded the Mary Zemke Memorial Fund Prize by Trinity Laban (London) for her contribution to community-building through the arts.

At InDancEdu, she contributes to the design and implementation of community- and school-based programs, with a particular focus on gender and intercultural dimensions.
