Τhe Art of Dance goes Far
We are delighted to present the educational program “The Art of Dance”, designed for elementary school students (ages 6–12). The program offers children the opportunity to explore dance as a holistic art form that permeates all aspects of life. Through hands-on activities, choreography composition, video observation, and discussion, children develop motor, choreographic, and critical thinking skills, while discovering dance as a medium for personal and collective expression.
As part of the program, children will have the opportunity to:
Explore the potential of their bodies and express themselves through dance.
Create choreographies in collaboration with their classmates.
Connect the dance experience with other art forms (music, visual arts, poetry) and the world around them.
Develop a “dance literacy” that fosters imagination, empathy, and critical thinking.
The program follows an interdisciplinary, participatory, and embodied approach, encouraging children to link movement experiences with theoretical concepts and to create in a safe and playful environment.
Facilitators: Maria Papadopoulou, Lina Vergopoulou, Kyveli Kouvatsi, Polena Kolia-Petersen, Dora Sarri
Collaboration with schools: Each workshop lasts 2 teaching hours. The program will be offered free of charge in four schools located in Athens, Crete, Lefkada, and Leros. Teachers or schools interested in hosting the program can contact us at info@indancedu.com for more information.
(The program is funded and supported under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture.)
